Family, friends and colleagues raised £1,278 for a local cancer charity in memory of Donna Hubbard (43) who died on 13 January 2014.
During her three –year cancer journey, Donna enjoyed going to the Aurora Wellbeing Centre for some therapeutic pampering and support. Her beauty treatment appointments gave her something to look forward to and helped make her feel normal for a while whilst also undergoing harsh medical treatment. She was planning to be a model in Aurora’s annual charity fashion show.
Donna began working in Occupational Therapy at Doncaster Royal Infirmary in 2003 then moved to Park Hill Hospital in 2009. From July 2011 she successfully battled against breast cancer and was given the all-clear but it later returned to the liver.
“She fought every step of the way. A much-loved wife, mum and daughter, she will be remembered as being upbeat, happy and a friend to everyone,” says Sue Milne, Clinical Therapy Administrator at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Over 200 people attended Donna’s funeral at All Saints Church, Woodlands, Doncaster on 28 January 2014. In her memory, a collection was taken to raise funds for Aurora to support other local men and women on their cancer journey.
Aurora Wellbeing Centres offers a free package of beauty treatments and support to local people with a cancer diagnosis designed to help raise self-esteem, confidence and counteract possible side effects of cancer treatments.
