Dear Friends

This year is our big year!! It is the ten year anniversary of Sandra’s death and we want to do her proud by making this year a big event for all. Following the fantastic success of the last five “Rush to Walk with Bosom Buddies” events, we are planning our 6th walk on Sunday 6th May. We were going to change the walk this year but due to time commitments we are unable to, the route will offer an option of a 4, 6 or 10 mile walk, the choice will be yours. Last year before we started the walk, I told you about one of our walks marshal’s Mick Weir, who was diagnosed with Methoceloma (cancer of the lung) and the prognosis was terminal. I am pleased to say Mick is still fighting his corner and all been well will join us with his wife Dorothy who is also a helper with the walk and is also suffering from cancer.

It is very difficult times this year for us as one of the founders of Rush to Walk, Lynn Wilson (age 54) has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Lynn is being very strong and positive and with gods will, will join us this year on the walk. We hope you will be able to join us once again for a day of fun and fundraising.

This year we are doing something that Rush to Walk has always strived for and that is to bring the community together. So we will be working with representatives from Bluebell Wood, Rotherham Hospital Charities and Aurora. All monies raised will be divided equally between these charities. This year there is an exception, we will be making a donation to help the Nieve fund and methoceloma. Nieve Power is and 8 year old girl who has a reoccurring brain tumour and has been told that there is no more medical help in the UK, so funds need to be raised so she can seek alternative medical treatment abroad. Some of Nieve’s family has joined us on previous walks.

So far, the Bosom Buddies walks have raised almost £76,000 thanks to your fantastic support, and we hope to make this year the most attended and biggest money raiser to date!  Once again, entry will be free, but we would encourage you to raise as much sponsorship as possible to support our chosen charities.

We had 206 walkers last year who all gave us excellent feedback regarding the walk and were eager to join us again with more walkers. We want to exceed that number this year, so please mention us to your friends, family and work colleagues. Our aim this year is to show that as a community we can work together to help each other.

Enrolment and sponsorship forms can be obtained from either of us, or can be downloaded from our website: www.rushtowalk.com

We ask that you print and copy the enrolment and sponsor forms to keep costs to a minimum.

Each person walking will need to fill in an enrolment form.  Please send back to:
