Aurora Care to Give Shop

The story so far…………

Bryan Merrit of Pheonix Property Developments has given Aurora the use of a retail outlet free of charge for one year. This has enabled Aurora to launch the Aurora Care to Give Shop, a charity shop with a difference!

The Aurora Care to Give Shop is certainly a charity shop with a difference. We aim to give a unique experience to all of our customers.

The shop hosts four facets -

Charity Shop

This sells good quality, clean donated clothing, scarves, shoes, handbags and jewellery. We particularly pride ourselves in offering women’s occasion wear, special outfits, prom and bridal wear.

All proceeds from the sale of these items are donated to Aurora Wellbeing.

Dress Agency

We act as an agent for selling designer and selected top-end high street garments on behalf of the customer. The customer and the Aurora manageress will negotiate a selling price, of which the customer receives 50% and Aurora is donated 50%. The dress agency items will be part of the shop’s stock for six weeks; within this time, we may decide to list certain items on our eBay page. We accept stock on a sale or return basis.

Hat Hire

Whether it is for a wedding, the Races or another special occasion, we offer a very reasonable hat hire service. With over 60 hats and fascinators in stock, we are sure we can provide you with a wide range of styles to match your outfit. Hats can be hired for three days for £15-£20, with a £25 bond, refunded when the hat has been returned in its original condition.

Personal Shopping Area

A newly-refurbished area in the upstairs of the premises provides an exclusive opportunity for customers and friends of Aurora to shop in a private, calm and relaxed atmosphere with one of our friendly members of staff who will be available to offer help and advice in finding your perfect outfit. This will be on an individual or small group basis by appointment only.

We are constantly in need of replenishing our stock and would very much appreciate your quality donated items to help fund the Aurora Wellbeing Centres and therefore continuing to support local cancer patients. Donated items can be taken directly to the shop or C-Block (behind the Women’s Hospital) at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Please note, the Aurora Care to Give Shop also sells tickets for upcoming Aurora events (e.g. fashion shows, fun runs, outdoor festivals, etc) and Aurora merchandise.

Bryan Merrit has kindly agreed to refurbish the basement of the shop to enable the Aurora to open a Beauty Treatment Salon. Six beauty treatments will be available to patients living with cancer free of charge, with carers entitled to two free treatments. All treatments will be available to the public who will be able to donate a fee to ensure the continual support of Aurora.

Aurora wishes to thank Bryan Merrit also for donating the use of a 3000sq ft unit that will serve as a sorting and storage unit for the shop. Everybody at Aurora Wellbeing Centres would also like to thank those companies and special helpers for donating their time, labour and materials free of charge to refit this shop.
